CheckProof recently hosted its inaugural industry event, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey. CheckProof’s industry event, which coincided with our ten-year anniversary celebration, was formed with the intention of gathering industry leaders within the construction materials and heavy industries. Together we discussed common challenges, shared success stories along with informative content on trends that the industry needs to be aware of.

The event was held at the picturesque Hackholmssund Conference Center in the Swedish archipelago. The stunning setting provided the perfect backdrop for an agenda packed with insights, inspiration, and networking, showcasing CheckProof’s mission to drive digital transformation across the construction materials industries.

Key clients, keynote speakers and industry experts joined us on the day, setting the stage for meaningful discussions about shared challenges and goals. Here’s a look back at the highlights of this landmark event. If you couldn’t join us, then carry on reading to catch up on all the highlights!

CEO Håkan Holmgren takes the stage

The day began with a warm welcome from CEO Håkan Holmgren, who shared CheckProof’s remarkable journey from its founding to its current role as a leader in digital solutions for maintenance, safety, and quality. Håkan emphasized the importance of collaboration in building tomorrow’s solutions – we all stand to gain when the industry thrives. Put differently, our clients’ growth is CheckProof’s growth.

Joining him on stage, CheckProof’s COO Linn Karlsson, outlined our vision for growth and innovation. Her insights into the company’s expansion plans highlighted the shared goals of both CheckProof and its clients: achieving operational excellence through digital tools.

Linn mentioned the benefit of the recent investment from Nordic VC firm, Viking Venture which is instrumental in CheckProof’s ambitious growth plans across North America and Europe. Viking Venture, which joins Granitor Growth Management AB as a lead shareholder in CheckProof, continues to provide a depth of market knowledge to these new markets.

First Keynote: Psychological tools for successful behavioral change

Felicia Grosin, an expert psychologist in behavioral change, delivered an engaging combination of workshop and keynote presentation on the challenges organizations face when driving new behaviors. Drawing on examples shared in the room she summarized common hurdles: resistance to change, shortcuts in routines, and fixed mindsets like “I’ve always done it my way.”

Her interactive workshop was a standout moment, introducing attendees to “nudging,” a subtle yet powerful technique to encourage positive behavioral shifts without resistance. Participants left with practical strategies to inspire teams and create lasting change. Felicia also spoke of the ‘ABC’ model, as a powerful tool for driving organizational behavioral change. The model focuses on what truly impacts behavior. Research shows that the ‘A’ in the model, the activator only impacts 20% of change in behavior (the ‘B’). However, the ‘C’ which stands for consequence has an 80% impact on behavior, thus emphasizing the need for positive reinforcement to promote desired behavior.

Felicia highlighted how managing and reinforcing positive consequences can lead to sustained, desirable changes in workplace routines and mindsets. Her interactive workshop helped attendees understand how these principles apply in overcoming challenges like fixed habits and resistance to change, providing practical insights for enhancing team dynamics.

Recently released features and a sneak peek of CheckProof’s product pipeline

The afternoon began with an exclusive preview of CheckProof’s latest updates, such as Planning Tool, Public Objects, and new features that are still in development. Among the highlights were the highly anticipated combined checklists, risk assessment tools, and implementation of AI when building checklists. Håkan Holmgren presented this session along with Product Owner, Jakob Schweiler.

There was a lot of excitement in the room as the team demonstrated how these tools can help enhance productivity across teams.

Second Keynote: Sustainability and technology trends within the industry

Our second keynote speaker was Judith Wolst, a sustainability and tech expert who presented a forward-looking presentation on the intersection of technology and sustainability. Judith’s session was both thought-provoking and entertaining, featuring live demonstrations of AI creating a song and podcast about the event. She also explored fascinating applications of AI and digitalization in urban planning and infrastructure. Among the trends she highlighted were:

  • AI-equipped garbage trucks in Helsingborg, which use cameras to monitor road conditions, detecting and reporting potholes as they perform routine waste collection.
  • Virtual city modeling in Gothenburg, where AI supports urban planning by assessing risks and forecasting potential disasters.

These examples showcased the transformative potential of AI in driving smarter, more efficient cities. Her insights into future trends within the construction materials industry highlighted the growing importance of sustainable practices and digital innovation, inspiring us to think larger-than-life about our operations.

Client Panel: Implementing digital systems – Rolling out CheckProof across teams

One of the most practical and engaging sessions of the day was the client panel, featuring Gina Becker from Cemex, Andrew Hogg from Breedon Group, Brett Burrows from Banner Contracts, and Niklas Engblom from Peab Industry.

Their candid stories offered invaluable insights into overcoming challenges and achieving success with digital systems.

Third Keynote: Leadership under pressure and team motivation

The final keynote of the day came from Lt. Col. Robert Karjel, who drew on his experiences as a helicopter pilot in the Swedish Air Force to discuss leadership in high-pressure situations. In 2010, he commanded a helicopter squadron that fought heavily armed pirates off the coast of Somalia. In 2013, a new unit of Blackhawk helicopters he built for Sweden deployed to Afghanistan, to execute medical evacuations.

Root Cause Analysis 101 Guide
In every heavy operation, things go wrong — bearings fail, conveyors break, loaders bump. Fixing it fast keeps production moving, but if the same issue keeps returning, it’s time to ask: are you solving the problem or just patching it?
