The problem:
Invisible pre start work

Machines and plants starts every day without anyone truly knowing whether the required checks were completed, or by whom. This creates operational uncertainty, safety risks, and a compliance story that’s difficult to defend.

Paper routines get skipped, rushed, or lost

Managers have no real-time way to verify checks

Missed checks make root-cause clarity nearly impossible

Equipment can start with undetected faults or missing guards

Operators may start machines without proper training

Checks happen in one system, machine starts in another — the two don’t connect

RFID ensures checks are completed correctly and at the right location, but today that data isn’t tied to machine start

What is Startblocker?

Startblocker is a physical unit that is installed on the equipment that block the start signal until the connected check is performed or the user has pressed “emergency start”, where all the bypass will be logged in the system for traceability.

A machine cannot start until critical safety checks are completed in CheckProof.

Once conditions are met, the CheckProof app sends an instant Bluetooth signal to Startblocker, unlocking the start mechanism.

If not, Startblocker keeps the machine blocked. This creates a consistent, verifiable start process across all shifts, teams, and sites.

Ignition-Mounted Safety Device

A physical unit installed in the machine’s ignition to ensure starts only occur under verified conditions.

Mandatory Pre-Start Verification

The device blocks ignition until it receives confirmation that the required pre-start inspection has been completed.

Bluetooth-Enabled Unlocking

The app communicates with the device via Bluetooth, granting start access for a defined number of hours after the inspection is completed.

Emergency Start With Full Traceability

An emergency mode allows the machine to start without the inspection, automatically logging a missed check in the admin platform.

A safer work environment

Unsafe starts are one of the most common sources of avoidable incidents in heavy industry. A machine started without a proper pre start check can easy result in putting your workforce at risk and that critical issues on your equipment is not reported.

Startblocker creates a safer work environment by ensuring:

Consistent routines across all teams

Each shift, contractor, and operator follows the same verified process – ensuring consistent routines, clear accountability, and a uniform standard across your operation.

Clear and automated safety records

During incidents or audits, you have full traceability - knowing exactly who performed each check, when it was completed, and the precise moment the machine was allowed to start.

The result is a workplace where risks drop, responsibilities are clear, and safety becomes part of the workflow instead of an add on.

How it works

1. Operator opens CheckProof app They complete the required pre start routine: photos, values, comments, deviations.
2. Startblocker receives verification If checks pass, Startblocker unlocks for a set period (example 24 hours).
3. Machine starts normally Nothing changes for the operator except that the start is proven and safe.
4. Emergency start option when needed If the equipment must be started a dedicated emergency button connected to Startblocker can be held for 20 seconds. This puts the device into emergency start mode, allowing the machine to start. The event is automatically logged in the Startblocker unit and sent to the CheckProof app, where it is recorded as an emergency start.

The origin story

Startblocker began long before.
In 2023, during customer visits across quarries, cement plants, and asphalt sites, we saw the same problem:

“We have no way to know if checks were done before a machine starts without relying on telematic data from the machinery and internet connection.”

Audits flagged missing documentation. Managers lacked reliable KPIs. Operators were trusted to follow routines, but nothing tied those routines to the moment the machine actually started.

We mapped workflows at live sites.

The insight was obvious:
There was a physical gap between verification and machine start.

In 2023, we built a proof of concept. A solution shaped by real customers, real environments, and real operational constraints.

Startblocker is the product of that learning.
