CheckProof speaks to Brett Burrows from Banner Contracts on securing processes and ISO Compliance with CheckProof.

Q: Can you tell us about your role at Banner Contracts and what it entails?

A: I’m the HSEQ and Compliance Manager at Banner Contracts. My responsibilities include overseeing health, safety, environment, and quality across our operations. This ranges from implementing safety protocols and ensuring ISO compliance to streamlining workflows and improving operational efficiencies. It’s a dynamic role combining strategic planning with hands-on problem-solving, where CheckProof plays a critical role.

Q: Can you describe how your team integrates CheckProof into daily workflows?

A: CheckProof was introduced at Banner Contracts before I joined. Initially, the focus was on daily checks and defect management, but I expanded its use significantly. We’ve replaced paper-based admin tasks like timesheets, health and safety forms, and risk assessments. It’s now central to streamlining a wide range of operations, from training to proactive maintenance.

Q: What motivated your organization to choose CheckProof, and how was the onboarding process?

A: CheckProof has been pivotal for achieving compliance with ISO standards—9001, 14001, and 45001. It helped us gather evidence and meet standards efficiently, often in real time. Onboarding included creating tailored checklists, which made the transition seamless for both permanent and agency staff.

Q: What key performance indicators (KPIs) or metrics have improved since adopting CheckProof?

A: Time savings are one of the biggest wins. Previously, gathering paperwork and transferring defects into spreadsheets took a day and a half weekly. With CheckProof, this process is live, saving hours and enabling instant responses to issues. For production, I now get daily updates from all sites, something I previously ‘managed’ through piles of last week’s paperwork.

“Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The team appreciates the efficiency and clarity it brings to their daily tasks.”

Q: How have frontline workers responded to CheckProof?

A: Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The team appreciates the efficiency and clarity it brings to their daily tasks. For example, in the past 200 units of equipment were previously tracked on paper. Gathering data or capturing defects and deviations used to take a day and a half each week, as piles of paperwork would accumulate on the desk. Now, with CheckProof, that process is digitized, saving significant time. Additionally, response times have improved dramatically. CheckProof enables instant reporting and live responses, enhancing operational efficiency.

Q: Are there any standout features for your operations?

A: I love the production reports—they give me real-time insights across all sites and let me share updates directly with customers. Also, deviations aren’t just for defect tracking; I use them to gather evidence of good practices and improve customer relations. I feel I can keep pushing the boundaries of what it’s possible to use CheckProof for.

Q: What challenges has CheckProof helped you overcome in maintenance, health & safety, or quality management?

A: It’s revolutionized how we handle defects and maintenance, ensuring faster response times and consistent quality. For health and safety, we’re now more proactive, using audits and risk assessments to identify and address potential issues early.

Q: How do you see CheckProof fitting into your long-term goals?

A: It’s deeply embedded in our operations now. The efficiency and reliability it brings make it hard to imagine going back to our old ways. With continued enhancements, it will remain a cornerstone of our strategy.

Q: Anything else you’d like to add?

A: The customer support team has been fantastic—I’ve got a great relationship with them. As a CheckProof enthusiast, I’m always eager to see what’s next, and I’m excited about how we can continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with the platform.

CMMS Features and Functionality: What to Look for in a Maintenance Management System
Not all CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) platforms are built the same, and in industries like quarrying, aggregates, cement, and ready-mix concrete, there are certain capabilities that carry more weight than others. The CMMS features that matter most for maintenance teams in asset-intensive industries include things such as centralized asset data, work order automation, preventive and predictive scheduling, digital checklists, deviation management, fleet optimization, and mobile-first design with offline capability.

Cement Plant Inspection Checklist: What to Check, When to Check It, and Why It Fails
Most unplanned shutdowns in a cement plant don’t come out of nowhere. There’s usually a trail beforehand. Maybe a kiln bearing that’s been running 15 degrees above baseline for three weeks, noted by the operator on shift but never formally flagged because it hadn’t tripped an alarm yet. The issue isn’t a lack of warning, its that small deviations are often tolerated until they tip over into something serious.

How to Choose the Right Work Order App for Your Industry
When something breaks on site, the fix gets most of the attention, but it’s rarely where things go wrong. What’s just as critical is everything around it: who reported it, who picked it up, what got missed between shifts, and how long it sat before anyone acted. In many operations, that whole flow is still held together by paper forms, radio calls, and memory.

Best Practices for Work Order Management
Efficient maintenance starts with clear work orders. When issues are logged quickly with the right details, photos, and priority, teams spend less time chasing information and more time fixing problems. The result is reduced downtime, smoother shift handovers, and audit-ready operations — even in low-signal or harsh environments where mobile work orders let crews flag issues before they escalate.

Predictive Maintenance vs Condition-Based Maintenance
Walk any quarry, plant, or yard and you’ll see the same thing: assets and equipment emitting tell-tale signs of its condition, long before it actually fails. Operators note “sounds off” on a pre-shift, but the note gets buried in a binder or a spreadsheet. The gap between seeing a problem and acting on it at the right time is often where maintenance strategies break down.

Fault Tree Analysis 101 – A Comprehensive Guide
Equipment rarely fails for a single reason. Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) helps teams work backwards from a breakdown, separate symptoms from causes, and identify what needs to change to prevent repeat failures.
